All FAQs
What services does the Erdmann Group offer from a single source?
We accompany our customers through the entire process: From the initial CAD design and in-house toolmaking, through die forging and mechanical CNC machining, to heat treatment, surface finishing (e.g. painting), and final inspection.
Which industries do you produce components for?
Focus areas include rail transport, agricultural machinery, mining and construction equipment, commercial vehicles, and general mechanical engineering.
Which certifications and quality credentials does Erdmann hold?
Our quality assurance is seamless and certified (including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 3834-2). We also carry out non-destructive testing according to standards and guarantee 100% safety requirements through statistical process control. For rail transport, we have DB-relevant classifications such as Q1 for track materials.
What part weights and batch sizes can you realize?
Our manufacturing capacities are highly flexible. In die forging, we produce components with part weights from 0.1 kg up to 150 kg (e.g. at the Rüthen site). We produce individual parts and prototypes as well as small batches and large series for recurring needs.
Where does the production take place? / Where is Erdmann located?
Hagen (North Rhine-Westphalia)
What manufacturing capacities does Erdmann have?
It includes 11 forging lines up to 150kg and 70 CNC machining centers. We machine on 4 axes and, depending on the application, with automated machine loading.
Does Erdmann manufacture components specifically for rail transport?
Yes, the Erdmann Group is strongly involved in rail transport. We manufacture resilient and safety-relevant components such as track materials, bogies, frame construction, and wheelset components. We meet important standards and hold DB-relevant delivery approvals. Our components are also qualified and used by European railway operators.
Which materials and steel grades are processed at Erdmann?
We process a wide range of metallic materials for the highest demands. These include classic structural steel, unalloyed and alloyed steels, high-strength stainless steels, and special AFP steels (precipitation-hardening ferritic-pearlitic steels). Depending on your requirements, we will gladly advise you on the optimal choice of material.
Do you also offer heat treatment (hardening) and painting?
Yes, the group includes its own specialist companies for surface and heat treatment. HEG GmbH has modern high- and low-temperature furnaces for tempering forgings. Our industrial painting facility LEG GmbH ensures a perfect finish with wet painting and 2K paint systems.
How does the process from CAD design to the finished component work?
Everything begins in our in-house design department with state-of-the-art CAD software and process simulations. We manufacture the tools developed there in our own toolmaking facility. This is followed by die forging, then mechanical CNC machining, optional heat treatment or painting, and finally, a seamless quality inspection.
When can goods be collected from Erdmann?
We have an open collection and dispatch time from 08:00 to 14:30.
How many employees does Erdmann have?
We have 170-200 employees across 5 locations.
Can Erdmann supply spare parts?
Yes, we can supply spare parts from stock or manufacture a small quantity.
Does Erdmann also supply components made from plates?
Yes, we machine not only forgings, but also bar and plate material.
Does Erdmann offer contract manufacturing?
We supply high-quality forging blanks or ready-to-install steel components. We do not offer pure mechanical contract work.
